A Cleaner Riverfront Starts With You

Join Gateway Arch National Park and Gateway Arch Park Foundation at the annual Spring Riverfront Clean-Up, taking place on Saturday, April 25th, from 9 a.m. - noon. This special day of service is vital to the preservation and protection of St. Louis' historic riverfront and the Mississippi River, which flows along the boundary of Gateway Arch National Park.

After removing more than 2,000 pounds from trash and recyclables from the river in 2025, Gateway Arch National Park and Gateway Arch Park Foundation have teamed up again with Great Rivers Greenway, Living Lands & Waters, Republic Services, and Missouri Stream Team to clean up our Mighty Mississippi.   

We’re asking YOU and your friends and family to join us in lending a helping hand to keep the front yard of St. Louis clean, vital, and welcoming.

How do I register?

Registration is available here. Online registration guarantees you will receive free parking and arrival instructions for the event. Volunteers will meet at the registration table at the bottom of the Grand Staircase to check-in and get instructions for the day. 

Who can participate? 

Everyone! We welcome all ages to this event.

Do I need to bring anything? 

We will provide trash bags, gloves, water, and snacks. We will have a limited supply of litter pickers available on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to bring your own supplies but note that the park and partners will not be responsible for any losses or damage to personal items. 

What should I wear?

We ask that all participants wear long pants and sturdy, close-toe shoes. 

Note: The riverfront is made of cobblestone and uneven surfaces and can be difficult to walk on.
